Proposed electricity generation authority—Gunsynd solar farm
Proposed electricity generation authority – Progressive Renewable Developments Goondiwindi Pty Ltd (Gunsynd Solar Farm).
Under the Electricity Act 1994 (the Act), our Director-General (the regulator) issues authorities (licences) for electricity generation activities.
When an applicant applies for an electricity generation authority to generate electricity and connect to the transmission or distribution network, the regulator must invite interested persons to make submissions about the application.
What is proposed?
Progressive Renewable Developments Goondiwindi Pty Ltd (the applicant) has applied for a generation authority under section 179 of the Act.
The application is for a proposed solar farm – the Gunsynd Solar Farm, located approximately 14 km north of the township of Goondiwindi, within the Goondiwindi Regional Council local government area of Queensland.
The generation authority, if issued, will authorise the operation of the solar farm and its connection to Ergon Energy’s distribution network. The solar farm will connect to the distribution network via a new Ergon Energy switching station to be constructed next to the site.
The solar farm will have a total nameplate rating of 122.77 megawatts. This is the amount of electric energy that the generation plant can produce as rated by the manufacturer.
