We use social media to share information and connect and engage with Queenslanders.
Our social media channels support the information we publish on this website—our official source of information.
Our aim is to inform and educate you about issues and changes affecting Queensland and remind you of important events.
The department has profiles on Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.
Follow us to stay up to date with our news and community events.

Response times
We welcome feedback and ideas from our followers and join the conversation where possible.
We only monitor and respond to comments and messages during business hours.
We cannot reply to all messages we receive on our social networks. However, we do read comments and messages and forward information to the appropriate areas.
Remember, your comments on social media are public and searchable.
Direct messages on social media are not considered official correspondence.
Contact us by phone, email or in writing if you have a:
- formal request, comment or enquiry
- complaint against staff or services
- response to an item for public consultation.
Terms and conditions
We expect our social media community to treat each other—and our employees—with respect.
We will hide or remove comments that contain:
- vulgar or abusive language
- personal attacks of any kind
- offensive terms that target specific ethnic or racial groups,
- comments that do not remain on topic, are repetitive or are not productive.
Comments that are spam, promote services or products, or contain political content are also hidden or removed.
Illegal content or behaviour is not allowed on DEC’s social media channels. We will not allow links or posts to any copyright or pornographic material, or posts that engage in behaviours like harassment, impersonation, intimidation, or abuse.
We may report and block users posting inappropriate or offensive material at our discretion. We are not obliged to reinstate any individual it decides to block.
DEC does not guarantee or warrant that information posted by individuals on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram is correct and disclaims any liability for any loss or damage resulting from reliance on such information.
