Talking to your community about REZ
We’ll be inviting local communities to have their say about developing a renewable energy zone (REZ) in their area, and to take part in our REZ readiness assessments.
Our next community sessions will be for the potential North and Far North and Southern Queensland REZs.
They’re expected to take place in late 2024 or early 2025.
Initial community sessions completed
Central Queensland communities have provided important input to our pilot REZ readiness assessments for the region and the potential Callide REZ. Read our initial findings and actions.
Based on our analysis and community input, we’ve committed $25.8 million to delivering early actions that support communities while planning for future REZs continues.
We’ll continue talking with your community about the REZs and implementing these early actions to make sure we keep addressing your local needs and priorities.
Community sessions
We’ll announce our next community engagement sessions soon.
These sessions will help us:
- understand your community's views
- plan the rollout of REZs
- minimise any impacts from developing a REZ
- identify opportunities for your community to benefit from a REZ.
What we'll cover
Topics include:
- First Nations considerations
- local infrastructure, like roads and bridges
- transport
- workforce
- housing and accommodation
- local industry, supply chains and the circular economy (how we recycle and reprocess waste)
- land use and agriculture
- environment
